![]() Knoxville, Oak Ridge, Alcoa, and Pigeon Forge McAlister's Delis held a fundraiser on World Down Syndrome Day, March 21, 2018 to benefit the Down Syndrome Awareness Group of East Tennessee. As a result of the fundraiser, McAlister's Deli raised $1,833.00 for DSAG! One of our own team members, Diana Burgess, an active DSAG member, planned the event and created Butterfly Crafts for each restaurant to make on this Kid's Night. Many members of the DSAG group volunteered at our restaurants and joined us to raise money for the group. It was a great time for a great cause!

![]() Peak Restaurants held a Press Conference with KBM Commercial Properties announcing our newest McAlister's Deli location in Bristol, VA on March 28, 2018 at the Bristol Chamber of Commerce. The Conference was opened by Bristol Chamber of Commerce CEO, Beth Rhinehart with presentations from KBM Commercial Properties Owner, KD Moore, and Jeff Shawl, Chris Smith, and Amber Clark of Peak Restaurants. The event was attended by Bristol Councilman Archie Hubbard, Vice Mayor of Bristol, TN Margaret Feierabend, members of the Bristol Chamber of Commerce, local press, Peak's Bristol administrative staff, and the local business community. The newest location will be located on Euclid Avenue in Bristol, Virginia as a part of the new development across from the new Food City. This location will be Peak’s second restaurant that will utilize a Pick-Up Window. It is, in fact, one of only a handful in the country with a Pick-Up Window. This window enables guests who place online, app or call-in orders to pick up their meal without the hassle of getting out of their vehicle. The Bristol, Virginia location will be Peak's 13th McAlister's Deli restaurant. The result of Fountain City’s Opening Week Fundraiser was a $1,200 donation to FISH Hospitality Pantries, a local organization that provides food to more than 8,000 families every month. Recognizing a poverty problem in its area, FISH asks what more can be done to help ensure that everyone gets enough to eat. This question motivates its three core aims:
FISH Pantries are 100% volunteer run and rely on donations. Each pantry has a thrift store, whose proceeds go directly to the food bank. Peak Restaurants’ donation will help the people at FISH Hospitality Pantries feed 240 families of four—960 people—for three days. Learn more about FISH Hospitality Pantries here. Bristol, TN (March 1, 2018) — Peak Restaurants held its 2017 Management awards ceremony this month, announcing its Manager of the Year, General Manager of the Year, Restaurant Safety Award recipients, and more. Peak Restaurants' Manager of the Year: Josh Bisig Josh started with Peak as a Manager on November 17, 2014, and joined the Alcoa team in late December of that year. For the next three years, Josh was an integral part of the Alcoa management team, and in December of 2017, Josh was promoted to GM of the new Fountain City restaurant that opened in January of this year. “Josh is an upbeat manager who brings positivity, leadership, and consistency to the team," said Trent Steele, General Manager at Alcoa during Josh's time there. "He treats employees fairly and will jump into any position when needed.” Congratulations to Josh on a fantastic year! Peak Restaurants' General Manager of the Year: Susan Horne. Susan started with Peak on July 4, 2007, and joined the Pigeon Forge team shortly after that opening in August of that year. Since then, Susan has stepped in to a variety of roles for Peak at several of our locations. Susan remained in Pigeon Forge through 2007, and transferred to Kingsport in January of 2008. In November of 2008, Susan transferred to our Towers Mall location in Roanoke as part of the opening team for that restaurant. 2009 was a good year for Susan, involving no moves or transfers, but in June of 2010, Susan was promoted to GM in Kingsport. In January of 2011, Susan again transferred to Towers Mall as GM. Susan remained GM at Towers as a vital part of the team until January of 2016, when she transferred to Johnson City to fill the GM position in that restaurant and to be closer to her family. Susan has remained in Johnson City since moving there in 2016. When Susan arrived at Johnson City in 2016, it was a two-manager restaurant, but due to substantial growth in 2016, we added a third manager in 2017. Susan had an extremely impactful year at Johnson City in 2017. She previously helped develop our GM in Blacksburg, and is currently overseeing the training of two managers in Johnson City. "Susan leads her team with kindness and empathy, never losing her composure in any situation," said Angel Milhorn, District Manager at Peak Restaurants. "She can always be counted on to go above and beyond to help her team or anyone else’s. She thrives on meeting and exceeding any challenge given to her." Congratulations to Susan on a truly extraordinary year and decade at Peak! Also announced earlier this month were the following award winners: 2017 ROE Excellence Award
2017 Admin Award
2017 Steritech Excellence Award
2017 inMoment Excellence Award
2017 Restaurant Safety Awards
Congratulations to our Manager of the Year, our General Manager of the Year, and all the above award recipients!
