October 30, 2018 — In recognition of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Peak Restaurants raised more than $1,600 for Susan G. Komen affiliates in East Tennessee and Southwest Virginia this October.
The restaurant group, which operates 9 McAlister's Delis in East Tennessee and 3 in Southwest Virginia, participated in Susan G. Komen's Dine Out for the Cure fundraiser on October 8, donating 10% of each restaurants' sales from 5:00 p.m. to close to the non-profit. The result of the fundraiser was a donation of $1,602.20 to Susan G. Komen affiliates: $1,221.10 to Susan G. Komen East Tennessee and $381.10 to Susan G. Komen Virginia Blue Ridge. Susan G. Komen has been a major force in promoting breast cancer awareness and research since its founding in 1982. According to its website, the foundation has funded more than $988 million in research and more than $2.2 billion in education, screening, and treatment, serving millions in over 60 countries worldwide. Its efforts helped reduce deaths from breast cancer by 39% between 1989 and 2018. We at Peak are proud to support breast cancer awareness and research alongside Susan G.
