Johnson City, TN. (June 4, 2020) — To celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week, we asked you to nominate teachers who have had a positive influence in your life and in our community. Our educators are working harder than ever to find creative ways to bring remote learning to our homes. Today, we announce one of our winners of Outstanding Educator in Johnson City, TN!
Danielle Mitchell is a 3rd-grade teacher at Grandview Elementary School. She was nominated by Rick Simons. "I have twin sons in Mrs. Mitchell's classroom and am always amazed by how she develops lesson plans to engage both of their very different learning styles," wrote Simons in the nomination. "During this COVID period, she's hosted video classroom sessions that allowed her students to see their friends and get some measure of normalcy. She's kept them on track for meeting year reading, math, and other academic goals and stayed in communication with all the parents. A truly amazing job in a truly difficult circumstance." Mrs. Mitchell will receive a McAlister's Deli gift card as well as an Outstanding Educator certificate from McAlister's. Congratulations, Danielle, and thank you for all you do!
