Oak Ridge, TN (May 11, 2018) — To celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week, we asked you, our guests, to nominate educators who have made an impact on you or our local community. Today, we announce our winners at our Oak Ridge location. Congratulations to Katelynn Olvey of Woodland Elementary and Stacy Moody of Pine View Elementary, who were chosen as Outstanding Educators in their communities. "From day one, Ms. Olvey has impressed me with her new and innovative way of teaching, kind spirit, and loving demeanor," said nominator Stephanie Gerics. "She has inspired my family to strive for a better education and positive mentality towards learning. My son believes this teacher is the smartest person he knows. He considers her his favorite teacher. She is always sending helpful tips to rethink the way we teach our children and asks for help in teaching our children. She's my ideal teacher because she knows it takes a village to raise a child to be a good person. [...] She is our top educator and we are very proud to have her." "Mrs. Moody [...] got her certification so that she could be my daughter's home-bound teacher," said Melissa Berry, a nominator of Ms. Moody. "She worked with her after she had taught school all day. My daughter got the live and attention she needed, not only from her family but her school and teacher at a very critical time for her. I have had 2 children and 4 grandchildren at Pine View and all of them still say Mrs. Stacy is their favorite teacher. She is a blessing to all."
Ms. Olvey and Ms. Moody are each awarded a certificate and prizes from McAlister's Deli. Thank you, Ms. Olvey and Ms. Moody, for all you have done for the students in your communities. We received many amazing nominations, and we want to recognize them all. Here are the Teacher Appreciation nominees in Oak Ridge:
