McAlister’s Deli Open in Blacksburg; Donates $1,000 to Micah’s Backpack

Blacksburg, VA. (November 1, 2016) — Peak Restaurants LLC, a McAlister’s® Deli franchisee, opened its newest location in Blacksburg at 884 Prices Fork Road in the University Crossroads development on Monday, September 5.  Known for its American Regional Favorites Served with a Smile™, McAlister’s is home to handcrafted sandwiches, always-fresh salads, giant stuffed spuds, and Famous Sweet Tea™.
 
To celebrate the grand opening, the new restaurant hosted a fundraiser during opening week (September 5 – 12) to benefit Micah’s Backpack, a local nonprofit organization that provides direct food assistance for children from low-income families. A percentage of all sales for the week was pledged to the organization, amounting in a $1,000 donation to Micah’s Backpack. Susan Verbrugge, Director of Micah’s Backpack said, “Because of the generosity of McAlister’s, we were able to send home over 9,800 bags of food for hungry children this past school year and deliver almost 2,000 bags this summer with our Mobile Backpack bus. The gift helps make an immediate, positive impact on so many lives.”
 
McAlister’s Delis are proud to play an active part in each community the restaurant serves. The Blacksburg, Roanoke, and Lynchburg locations also raised over $400 for Susan G. Komen of the Virginia Blue Ridge last week during a Dine Out event. Peak Restaurants LLC is proud to support local groups such as Second Harvest Food Bank, Feeding America, CASA: Court Appointed Special Advocates for Kids, Habitat for Humanity, American Cancer Society, Lynchburg Daily Bread, Blue Ridge Autism and Achievement Center, Autism Speaks, Wounded Warrior Project, March of Dimes, Muscular Dystrophy Association, Smart Beginnings, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, and local schools in their areas.
