KomenTo support National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Peak raised $1,963.50—over $400 more than last year's event—for local Susan G. Komen affiliates in October. Peak Restaurants' 10 East Tennessee-area McAlister's and 3 Blue Ridge Virginia-area locations participated in Susan G. Komen's annual Dine Out for the Cure event on October 5th, donating 10% of sales from 5 p.m. to close to the organization. The result of the fundraiser was a donation of $1,517.70 to Susan G. Komen East Tennessee and $445.80 to Susan G. Komen Virginia Blue Ridge. We thank guests for partnering with us in this event, and we appreciate the work that Susan G. McAlister’s in the Knoxville area raised $1,800 for the Down Syndrome Awareness Group of East Tennessee in Knoxville, a parent-initiated organization developed to provide information and support to families of individuals with Down syndrome and to raise awareness within the community about the abilities of individuals with Down syndrome and the benefits of their inclusion into society. Proceeds from the event at Tri-Cities McAlister’s—which raised $582.60—go to FRIENDS, a support group in the Tri-Cities that promotes community understanding and acceptance of individuals with Down syndrome. McAlister’s in the Virginia Blue Ridge area raised $518.90 for the Down Syndrome Association of Roanoke (DSAR), a non-profit that provides advocacy and recreational activities for those with Down syndrome as well as educational opportunities and support. We are grateful to partner again this year with each of these organizations. Learn more about DSAG. Learn more about FRIENDS. Learn more about DSAR.
